Do you feel like you need help with how to stop being lazy and unmotivated?
Everyone has been there at some point: feeling lazy and unmotivated. I am no stranger to this.
At a period in my life, I felt stuck and unmotivated. I didn’t do anything but laid in bed and ate snacks and binged series after series on Netflix.
While it’s okay every once in a while to have a lazy day here and there, it becomes a problem when it starts to be a routine and a part of life.
There are a few ways to get out of that rut, but it takes work. You first need to figure out why you’re in this rut, to begin with.
For me, it was a feeling of being lost and purposeless. This blog post will discuss 13 different strategies that can help you stop being lazy and unmotivated!
Why am I so lazy and unmotivated?
First of all, it is important to realize that being lazy and unmotivated are two different things.
Lazy implies a lack of motivation or desire in general, whereas unmotivated people have the drive but cannot seem to find the energy.
Generally speaking, many factors can contribute to what feels like laziness and lack of motivation.
These can include being overwhelmed, not enough rest at night, fear of failure, no goals, lack of energy, distractions, no discipline, feeling sad or depressed, mental or medical conditions, lack of self-esteem, no ambition and the list can go on and on.
Can Laziness be Cured?
Laziness is not a disease. There is no cure so to speak. You have to learn self-discipline and learn how to motivate yourself.
Getting your workout out of the way at the beginning of the day, even if it’s just a brisk jog or workout in your home, can help you feel more productive and motivated to get started on your work or school.
How to fix a lack of motivation?
If you have a lack of motivation, you need to stop and think about what is causing your lack of motivation.
Are you feeling sad or depressed? Is it just a phase that will pass soon? Are you lacking self-confidence? Do not let yourself slip into a downward spiral, but take action immediately!
Get rid of the distractions in your life; stop watching TV (except for an hour or two at night before bed) and stop checking social media constantly.
Stop putting things off until later because tomorrow might never come…take this moment right now to do something productive.
13 Ways to Stop Being Lazy and Unmotivated
Do not have the energy or motivation? Here are some tips that might stop you from being lazy and unmotivated.
1. Implement A Routine
Wheater it is a morning routine or an evening routine, creating a routine, and sticking to it, can be helpful to make sure you are being productive and getting things done.
This will make sure your day starts off right! It is important for mental health as well.
2. Exercise Regularly
Working out releases endorphins, which improve moods and reduce stress levels (which will stop laziness).
Working out has so many benefits outside of physical health like mental clarity (less fatigue), stress relief, more energy throughout the day after a good workout session in the morning or afternoon.
Being active is beneficial to everyone’s life!
3. Get Up and Get Dressed
Stop lying in bed! Getting up and getting dressed can also increase productivity.
Make yourself get out of bed and wash your face and brush your teeth. Go for a walk.
This can help jumpstart you to getting things done!
4. Plan and Schedule Your Day
By planning out the next few hours of what you need to do, it can help stop laziness.
It will also give you a better sense of direction so that way you know exactly what needs to be done for the day.
5. Improve Your Diet/Nutrition
An unhealthy body does not function properly, which can stop you from having the energy needed for things like working out, getting work done, etc.
You need better food choices if you want more energy and less fatigue!
6. Listen to Motivation Podcast
Podcasts are great for listening to while you’re on the go! It can help with motivation if you’ve been feeling unmotivated.
Find some podcasts on your phone or even on youtube. I like to listen to these while I’m getting ready to start my day in the morning.
It really helps to start your day feeling motivated!
7. Remove Distractions
Stop being lazy and unmotivated by removing things that stop your energy levels from going up, such as social media, texting all day long, etc.
8. Get an Accountability Partner
Having someone be accountable for your work will stop you from not doing it, and having someone else do some of the things you wanted to accomplish is less pressure.
9. Indulge in a Hobby That Makes You Happy
Whether it’s painting or cooking, whatever it may be, this can stop laziness because if something enjoyable comes out of working hard at something then motivation increases.
10. Take Breaks
Many people think sitting down all day long and never stopping is productive. But we need to remember our bodies are machines as well!
Take short breaks every hour (whether they’re 15 minutes away from computer time) so that when you come back refreshed and ready to get more done…you’ll get even more done than before!
11. Have better Sleep Habits
Sleep deprivation leads to mental fogginess, which makes it harder to be motivated in the first place.
So give yourself at least eight hours of good quality sleep every night for optimal productivity. Having consistent sleeping patterns (ie going to bed at 11 pm every night) so that your body can learn when it is time for rest, which will stop laziness!
This means no late-night scrolling on social media or watching Netflix before bedtime! It also helps if you take naps during the day too.
12. Set Goals to Work Towards
Meeting and beating your daily goals will stop laziness because it gives you a sense of purpose.
Make progress each day towards something more significant than just getting through the motions or checking off to-do list boxes.
If you have a larger goal in mind, break down what needs to be done today into steps that are manageable chunks by marking them out on paper or using an app like Trello.
This way if there isn’t enough time to get everything done today then at least mark off as much as possible!
13. Declutter Your Life
By decluttering things in your home and your workspace, you’ll stop feeling so overwhelmed and get rid of distractions.
A clean environment is a clear mind! And by clearing your mind, it’ll help to get over that feeling of being overwhelmed and help you stop feeling so lazy and unmotivated.
Develop Better Habits for Productivity
Create a Stop-Doing List
It’s easy to let distractions get in the way of our productivity. One of the best ways to help stop being lazy and unmotivated is by creating a stop doing list!
By writing out all the things we should stop spending time on, it becomes easier for us to see what needs to be done better as well as cut down on wasted time.
Prioritize Your Most Important Tasks
First thing in the morning when you’re feeling fresh before other responsibilities have piled up and stolen away with valuable mental bandwidth.
Creating habits that will make getting work done more consistent can keep us motivated for longer periods throughout each day.
When we prioritize our most important tasks early in our day instead of putting them off, we tend to make sure we are getting done what we need to do in order to progress.
Lifestyle changes should always come first when trying to stop being lazy and unmotivated.
Making changes in our schedule or routine has been shown time after time again as one of the most effective ways of increasing productivity levels.
We may not be able to stop procrastination entirely, but we can find ways around it like asking a friend or colleague for help.
Sometimes the best way of getting motivated is by having someone else nudge you towards your goals and remind you that there are things you have left undone.
If this isn’t an option, try using apps such as Beeminder which will track our own lack of motivation and hold us accountable for doing what needs to get done.
While we may not always be able to stop being lazy and unmotivated, there are many ways in which we can make the process easier on ourselves.
It’s important that you take action as soon as possible if you want to stop being lazy and motivated because it won’t happen all by itself or automatically without a little outside help.
There is no reason why your life needs to follow such a repetitive pattern of laziness, lack of motivation, and procrastination – even though this seems like an easy way out at times!
The reality is that with just a few changes here and there, most people would find themselves much better off when it comes to their productivity levels.
You too could benefit from these small adjustments but only if you are really serious about making a change.
Here is where you need to stop being lazy and unmotivated because there are so many things that can act as motivation for you if only you would open your eyes to them.
The important thing here, however, is not just knowing what motivates people but rather understanding why particular types of motivated behavior exist in the first place!
This is key when it comes down to uncovering how some people manage to stop being lazy and start becoming productive instead – every single day!
