Keeping your promises to yourself is just as important as keeping them for others because you’re your own best friend.
Promising ourselves to do the things we say we will is a way of showing ourselves that we can be trusted.
The quote, as mentioned on the Oberlo website, “your word is bond” is very true.
When you keep your promises, you show yourself that you are trustworthy and reliable. You also give yourself the chance to have good feelings about yourself because when people keep their promises they feel proud of themselves for being honest with others.
When you keep your promises, it shows that you care about yourself and have self-respect. It also helps build your confidence since it feels good when we know we’ve done something well!

Growing up I was always a person who did and accomplished whatever I put my mind to. I always finished whatever commitments I made to myself.
Over the years, I had broken a few promises that I made to myself. That usually wasn’t like me.
I noticed how I was losing faith in myself and didn’t trust myself to do anything that I promised.
This caused me to not try hard or challenge myself with my goals because I knew I wouldn’t achieve them. I started to give up quickly with all my goals.
I lost confidence in my abilities to succeed and this lowered my self-esteem.
Learning to keep my promises to myself was important to me. I wanted to feel like the old me again.
I made it my mission to regain faith in myself.
Why is Keeping Your Promises Important?

For me, keeping the promises I make to myself is important because I want to be able to trust myself and know that I’m going to follow through on what I say I’m going to do.
Keeping your promises shows honesty and integrity in all aspects of life.
When you make a promise to yourself and follow through with it, you’re sending yourself the message that your word is important and it will be respected.
A promise is a commitment. And making a promise to yourself is making a commitment to yourself.

You’re more likely to keep future promises to yourself. This minimizes the risk of you breaking your promise because you believe in yourself enough to stick with it.
What Happens If you Break Promises to Yourself?

If you constantly break promises you make to yourself then you don’t hold yourself accountable, you will never reach your full potential and you will end up feeling like a failure.
Breaking your promise causes you to start losing faith in yourself.
If you don’t have faith in yourself, you put little effort into things you do since you don’t believe in yourself to finish them.
Many people break promises they make to themselves because they don’t want to be held accountable for them.
It is important that you keep your commitments, even if it means doing something uncomfortable or difficult.
If at any point, you feel like breaking your promise, think about all the reasons why you want to keep your promise and remind yourself why it’s important for you not to break it.
The best way to make sure that we don’t let ourselves down or disappoint others is by keeping our promises.

Making promises is an easy thing to do. However, it’s not always easy to follow through on those promises after you make them.
This can be due to a number of reasons- maybe you’re too busy, your priorities changed, or the circumstances surrounding your promise have changed since you made it.
Whatever the reason may be, failing to keep these promises can have some pretty negative consequences for you.
